Off to Mozambique!
Hi all,
It has been a long time since you last heard from me this via this blog. For those of you who get our newsletter hopefully you saw some of our fun Christmas picture of when our kids got to visit us here in Harties, SA over Christmas. It was wonderful giving them a glimpse into our new lives here.Being away from them is definitely the hardest part of being here.
For the next couple of months we will entering a time of travel. Tomorrow we ( Phi,l , Tana and me) are driving with our "Faithful Toyota Fortuner" to Mozambique. It will be about an 7-8 hour drive from our home here to Maputo. the boarder crossing is what we are most apprehensive about, given that none of us speak Portuguese, the business language of Mozambique and there are still some unknown factors of visas, covid requirements and just plain "Africa unknowns" and you might imagine what those could all be.
Please pray for us, if you read this before we travel. While we are there we will be working with a new school that TeachBeyond is adding to their family of schools. We are excited about meeting this new group of teachers and about what new opportunities will come about in the country of Mozambique through transformational educational services. Phil will be checking out some Open School future possibilities. There is so much need in Mozambique. The school we will be visiting and working with is called Christian Academy Mozambique. (CAM).
Our Covid test just came back negative, so we are now good to go. Thanks for praying. For those interested follow me on Instagram. I will be sharing lots of pictures.
Meet our neighbors!
We are so blessed to live right next door to the Valance family. The amazing thing is that this family prayed for us before we ever got here. They prayed that a believing family would move in next to them and new God has someone specific in mind. What a gift to have been the ones the Lord was preparing. We already have shared meals, game nights, fun, and deep moments together. We especially love their kids Tyler and Scott. They love nature, animals, and getting into lots of mischief and it is also very nice to have kids call us auntie Tammy and uncle Phi.
Next time I will have to tell you how we met our neighbors that live on the other side of our house....quite an exciting story with a storm, a boat and a rescue action by Phil!
Because I know many of you are prayer people here are ways you can especially keep us in your prayers:
- Pray for our trip and our time of service in Mozambique. For safety, health, wisdom and moments of relationship building with a new team there.
- Pray for David and Amanda and our precious little grandbaby who all have Covid at the moment. They are all feeling quite miserable :-(
-
- Pray as I prepare to teach and train teachers for the Sparrow Project in Ethiopia and the DRC during the month of February and March. https://www2.teachbeyond.org/article/the-sparrow-project-in-africa
- Pray for lots and lots of wisdom as we navigate a new culture, build new relationships with locals here, teach and train in a culturally sensitive way to the people God puts us together with and to develop a humble learning spirit.
Tammy
Praying with you and for you, especially for your little family with Covid. Also, for safety in travel and that God will remove barriers along the way. It all looks very exciting from this side of things, but I know the realities on the ground sometimes tell another story. Praying for those unknown and unspoken details of every day life. What a blessing to have neighbors that prayed to have your as neighbors. Another sign from God that you are where he wants you. Blessings on your heads today!
